0NE of the most beautiful jet fighters ever built, the Sabre has long been my favourite power scale soarer. No other model has given me so much pleasure. Build one and you'll love no other. Honestly! Here's the quick way.
Bulkheads. Cut the four bulkheads from templates shown on sections A-A; B-B; D-D and G-G. These may be made from plywood only or fabricated from balsa sandwiched with thin ply or veneer on one side only.
Fuselage. Cut both 3/16in balsa sides to the outline as shown on the elevation view shown by the black triangle. Bond together the balsa sides and the ply doublers using an impact adhesive such as Evo-Stik or Dunlop Powerfix. Ensure that there is one right hand and one left hand side.
Affix balsa triangular section to both sides and allow to set. Saw cut triangular section in the nose area to assist flexing of sides to meet nose block. Glue bulkheads at B-B and D-D to both sides. When set, glue bulkheads A-A and G-G to both sides. Glue 1/2in thick balsa top decks and 1/4in and 1/2in thick bottoms.
Add nose block and tail faring. Plane, then sandpaper to shape. Fix wing mounting bracket but do not drill holes yet.
Fin and Tailplane. Carve and sand to shape the fin and tailplanes. Fit fin to fuselage by cutting a slot on the centre-line at the location shown. Glue in place. Tailplane may be made as an all-moving removable type as shown on plan or as a fixed type. Both versions fly well. Tailplane lies at an angle of 10 degrees to fuselage.
Wing. Wings on all existing Sabres were made from polystyrene foam using the Eppler 374 templates on the plan. It could be constructed using traditional balsa and sheet covered. Glue both sides of wing together using Araldite or similar. Strengthen wing joint together with a bandage coated with PVA glue. Note wing dihedral of one inch under each wing tip. Offer the completed wing to the fuselage and drill the wing retaining bolt holes right through the wing and the wing bolt bracket..."

ScaleType: This (oz9118) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_F-86_Sabre
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
