About this Plan

Piper Cub. Scale model. Pipe Aircraft's 1942 "Wings For Youth" competition plan.

Here reprinted in MB, July 1982.

Quote: "The Piper Wings for Youth Competition presents the youth of America an opportunity to found a career in aviation. Aeronautical scholarships, providing a year's employment with pay at the Piper Aircraft Corporation plant and 100 hours of flight trining in a Piper Cub training plane, will be awarded to model builders who build the best models of Piper Cubs from these blueprints. Use your ingenuity. See a real Piper Cub Trainer at your local Piper Dealer's and add to your model all the authentic details you can. The lilttle extras you build into it may be the things that will sway your local judges in your favour. The Piper Wings for Youth Competition has been approved by the US Army Air Forces."

Note this was not actually (we think) a flying model. More likely it was just for static display. Nice old plan, though.

The plan is tagged here as a 'Rubber' plan simply because that's the closest option.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
