Nieuport Nighthawk. Designed by the late Alan Palfrey for electric powered free flight. For Mabuchi A1 or similar power.
Quote: "IN THE MARCH 1982 issue of Aeromodeller, we published an article by Alan which gave some idea of the potential of electric powered free flight models. Since that time we have been very fortunate to receive a detailed plan of Alan's very successful Nieuport Nighthawk.
This model was designed for the Mabuchi A1 motor unit (which is still available from Ripmax) and power pack. Using this standard power unit, the model should weigh no more than 5oz complete, but with an extra 100mA cell, the weight can go up to 6oz. If an extra cell is used, the A1 motor will turn a 6 x 4 nylon or fibre propeller and with a charge of three minutes at 1-1/2amps, a duration of about 1 minute can be obtained.
Other electric motors can of course be used as long as the total weight is kept down to 6oz. The Brown twin CO2 motor would be a good alternative power unit, or possibly the Telco Turbotank, although weight would have to be added to arrive at the correct centre of balance. The advantage with electric power is that enough power remains on in the gl;ide pattern to give a slooth thansition from beginning to the end of the flight..."

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
