About this Plan
Wigan 70. Small field competition glider model.
Quote: "The Wigan 70. A small field competition glider. The Wigan 70 class is specifically designed to be flown on small fields and is an ideal introduction to free flight model flying.

2. Maximum length 70cm (27.5in)
3. Minimum total weight 70g (2.47 oz)

6. Internal combustion engines limited to .049 cu in and a seven second run.
7. Gliders to be flown from a 50m towline.
The following construction notes are basically for the glider, although parts are relevant to the rubber powered model to be published next month.
The basic materials required are PVA wood adhesive, epoxy glue, balsa cement, several sheets of lightweight modelling tissue, dope, thinners, piano wire and a small amount of 1mm plywood. For the rubber model a 10 or 12 in diameter plastic propellor and bush will be required, plus a few other items..."

Please find attached a photo of myself taken in the summer of 1982 with my Wigan 70 glider [model photo). This was my the first model I'd ever built and it survives to this day.LeighRichardson - 29/12/2017

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
