About this Plan
Lil' Knarf. Radio control pylon racer model. Wing area 490 sq in. K&B .35 RC with Veco extension shaft used on original model.
Quote: "The Lil Knarf is designed to meet the specifications of the proposed new Pylon event sponsored by the East Bay Radio Controllers Club. The intent of these specifications is to race semi-scale and scale Goodyear midget racers in multi-plane pylon racing. The Lil Knarf meets the semi-scale requirements of this event.
In case the reader is not familiar with the EBRC proposal for a new pylon type event, let's discuss it briefly. The need for an improved set of rules and specifications for RC pylon flying has become quite evident during the past few years. The number of persons interested in flying AMA pylon has rapidly diminished. There are many reasons for this, the main one being that the model is too specialized. It is only good for one thing and that is flying in competition events for pylon that are only held a few times a year. Sport or Sunday flying of this type of racer is out of the question. They are much too fast for safe flying under typical unorganized sport flying. Another reason is specialized engines. The winning designs (most are deltas) are powered by highly tuned engines, many of which could hardly be called stock.
The rules we have drawn up are not only designed to require a specialized model but also to have a practical model that can be sport flown. The regulations require the model to resemble or be a scale model of the Goodyear 190 cubic inch-pylon racers..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
