About this Plan

Unique Monique. Radio control slope soarer model. Wingspan 72in, for 2 function radio.

Quote: "The nearest thing to an ARTF plan model. All sheet construction for rugged consistency ...I had been flying powered R/C aircraft for about ten years, having progressed from single channel, through multireeds to pro-portional. But I had never tried slope-soaring and had always fought shy of the idea, in spite of the fact that we have adequate soaring slopes here in Ireland. However, there were several factors to be considered before leaping into the game, and all of them influenced my thinking in brewing up this design. A study of the local No1 hill, the Sugar Loaf, showed that it had good slopes and a rather splendid cliff about two-thirds of the way up, which faced the prevailing South-Westerlies. A walk up to it (boy, does this sport make you fit!) and it looked pretty good, but the landing area was strewn with boulders, sheep, burnt gorse and whatever you're having yourself. It seemed to me that anything less than a Centurian tank was unlikely to survive on this sort of terrain and, therefore, the model had to be really rugged and absorb a lot of punishment ...a quickly constructed and easily repaired airframe was of paramount importance and at the same time must be cheap in the first instance, as maybe more than one would be required before I had learned to fly the beast and get the site sorted out..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
