Stits Playboy (oz9260)
About this Plan
Stits Playboy. Control line scale model, for .19 to .35 power.
Quote: "Authentic control line model of the popular home-built Stits Playboy sport plane... The Playboy design makes an excellent control-line model. Thanks to the kindness of Mr. Stits, the model shown here is accurate since it was scaled directly from working drawings he provided. Power can be .19, .23 or .29 engines and even .35 could be fitted but model would be a real bomb. To satisfy scale fans, the construction follows closely that of the big aircraft. Fabric covered areas are same on model and wood block or planking simulates sheet metal covering. The only departure from scale is an increase in horizontal tail area. Scale outline is also shown on the plans. The airfoil used is the same as big ship NACA 23012 set at positive 4 deg. incidence on fuselage. If builder wishes to make a stunt model out of the Playboy the symmetrical airfoil shown below the fuselage plan can be used. Airfoil is drawn at zero incidence in relation to the phantom fuselage outline. The model is a lightweight so some stunting can be done, however it is not meant as an all-out competition stunt design. Before beginning construction check your particular engine for fit on the fire-wall shown. An older K & B Allyn .29 was used on the original model and this engine had crankcase bolts all the way through crankcase making radial mounting easy. Newer engines do not have this feature so radial mount plate must be used..."

ScaleType: This (oz9260) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stits_Playboy
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
