Victory (oz9005)
About this Plan
Victory. Control line stunt model. Old time stunter. Originally designed 1949. Wingspan 60in, wing area 700 sq in.
Quote: "FM Classic Stunt, Number 8. Victory, by Walt Pyron and Don Still.
When I was a teenager, Don Still became my first model airplane 'hero' with his semiscale Stuka (oz6227) control line Stunt design when it was published in the 1952 issue of Air Trails magazine. In 1954, I met Don face-to-face for the first time at the National Model Airplane Championships held in Chicago, Illinois. After talking, and flying a few practice flights along side this soft spoken gentleman, his hero image was fiirther enhanced when he treated me, a sixteen-year-old, as a fellow modeling equal.
Although Don Still is widely known for his Stuka Stunt design, he had an earlier control line Stunt design named the Victory which is the main focus of this article. I first became aware of the Victory Stunter several years ago during a phone conversation with George Aldrich when he mentioned that Don had designed this old timer era model and had won the 1949 Nationals in Precision Stunt flying a Victory. In fact, Don and his Victory also nearly won at the 1950 Nats the following year but got bumped to second place on the last flight of the day.
Paradoxically, at the time George and I talked, the Victory was not eligible to fly in the PAMPA Old Time Stunt (OTS) event since it had never been kitted or published (an OTS requirement at that time). Fortunately, the PAMPA OTS rules have since been revised to allow models such as the Victory to be eligible to compete and be recognized by fellow modelers as a tribute to their designers..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
