Southerner Mite (oz8976)
About this Plan
Southerner Mite. Free flight model for Mills .75 diesel engine.
Quote: "The Southerner Mite is a half scale version of the 60in span Southerner (oz5292) and has been designed especially for the Mills .75 diesel. Although of semi-scale appearance, this little model is a real contest design. The light wing loading gives a definite advantage over many larger and more powerful models. Much thought has gone into making the construction as simple as possible, and a careful study of these notes and the plan will be amply repaid..."
"Dear Mary and Steve, I thought you might like another KK classic: the Southerner Mite. This will complete the Slicker and Southerner collection I think. I have come to realise that why I took such a liking to these designs back in the 50's was because of the beautiful curved lines of these planes elliptical, like the Spitfire). If I remember correctly, the Southerner Mite wings are interchangable with the Slicker Mite (oz3683) so you can take both to the flying field with only one pair of wings. And thanks again for your wonderful site. Best wishes, Nicholas"

Thanks for the Ribs, didn't see they were missing, but the parts that are missing are the Fuselage formers. There are quite a few, there are only a couple on the main plan.

Hi Richard: all the printwood scans are posted under "Download Supplement" (no.2). All formers, wing ribs etc. are there.

Hi Steve and Mary: Another build in these unusual times [more pics 005-007]. Your site was invaluable for this Ben Buckle kit. Powered by an MP jet 040, rudder, elevator control and covered with solarfilm. Now just waiting for a club event and a chance to fly. Your site continues to be an inspiration.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
