Celestial Horseman (oz8643)
About this Plan
Celestial Horseman. Scale towline glider model sailplane. Scale is 1/6.
Winner of the 1943 Wings for Victory competition. Designed by L.G. Temple. Span 124.3in, length 56in, wing area 964in. A 2in to 1ft scale International Class model... constructed with hardwood throughout.
Hi Mary/Steve - Several more DBHL plans ready. I finally finished the Celestial Horseman sitting in my TLC folder. A beauty that deserved some special attention.
Scan from DBHL, cleanup by theshadow.

Direct submission to Outerzone.
Note this plan was described in 1944 (in the title block) as being a scale model of a fullsize prototype. But in reality no such fullsize aircraft was ever built. So this Outerzone plan is tagged as sport, not scale. My understanding of this is that Mr Temple designed a (perhaps fanciful) glider for himself, but never got around to building or indeed flying in it. This Outerzone plan listing remains confusing - I agree. If anyone wants to jump in with some more facts, that would be great. Steve.
Note for more on the scale/sport issue, see RCGroups thread at https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1166547-The-Celestial-Horseman-did-it-exist

Did we get something wrong with these details about this plan (especially the datafile)?

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
