User commentsPicture is my fuselage and tail of the STARTER [more pics 005]. Today I build the left wing of the starter.

Here's my STARTER without lining [more pics 006]. Very cheap to build, less than 10 pounds. 2 weeks of work. A nice hobby.

The STARTER is ready [more pics 007, 008]. Now even the build engine support as usual, comes above wing. It was fun to build this glider.

The Starter is ready to fly, but not today too much wind. With the auxiliary engine I am fully independent [more pics 009]. Now wait and see on a beautiful day. Total flyweight 530 gram, or 1.16845 pound. Thanks for OUTERZONE.

Hi Steve and Mary, today is very good weather to test the STARTER. With 5 minutes motor power, I still have 40 minutes thermals gliding. No trim needed, the STARTER flies very well for the first flight. Such a cheap glider and also fly incredibly. Am very happy with my aircraft from the '70s and '80s. Today I've also flown with the WINDY oz6947, yet such a cheap plane. Here in Belgium, the weather can be very different in one day. Cold and windy yesterday, today very good. I have a quick question: is www.rclibrary.co.uk website also by Steve and Mary? Very nice this website!

Thanks for the STARTER update, Julien :) Yes, RCLibary is our site too - glad to hear you like it!

Hello Outerzone team, here is my newly finished RC Starter from Svenson kits [more pics 010-013]. It flies well and goes great with the motor. I haven't managed to get any thermal flying done as it's winter in Australia at current but will keep you posted. The model is scratch built and very easy to construct. I've finished it with traditional doped tissue.

I'm thinking of making the Starter, what motor and prop are shown in the photos?

Dear Steve & Mary, Attached some pictures of my recently completed Svenson Starter [main pic, 014-016]. Easy and fun to build! The shape of the forward fuselage was modified to be able to mount a brushless motor with a foldable propeller. The wing has rounded wingtips and is mounted with nylon screws instead of dowels and rubber bands. I used the Drela ag35 airfoil which is thinner than the airfoil depicted on the plan. The motor is a Racerstar 1800kv BR2208 driving a 7x6 propeller with a 1000 Mah lipo. All up weight is 470gr.
Many thanks for Outerzone!

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
