About this Plan

Space Ship. Jetex powered sport model. Uses the Jetex Scorpion engine.

Quote: "Launched from a catapult, with rocket engine assist, this fireball reaches for the stars.

WHAT the first space ship will look like we can only guess. However, from the many proposals we've read in recent years, we reached the conclusion that it will be similar to this model. In the design, we endeavored to integrate our ideas on model proportions to coincide as much as possible with the theories being advanced for full-scale rocket flight.

To lend greater realism to our model's flights, a catapult is used. It is of simple construction and rubber band power serves as the propelling force. Using this power alone, we have had great success; yet added performance and realism can be obtained with the installation of a rocket motor. The combination sends the model shooting high into the air and we've felt well rewarded for the efforts put into its design and construction.

Despite its streamlined appearance and unusual configuration, the model is quite easy to build, even for someone lacking extensive model building experience. If you should take advantage of the full-size plan service, the time involved in scaling some of the important outlines can be eliminated, thus allowing more time for the actual construction.

Begin construction with the wing and tail surfaces. Both the stabilizer and wing are cut from 3/16 sheet balsa..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
