Mono Sport (oz8303)
About this Plan
Mono Sport. Control line sport model.
Quote: "This sport-type 1/2A or small A gas-powered job was specifically designed to test the new one-line torsional control line system.
For flying, we recommend following the manufacturer's specifications for line sizes: For lines up to 35 ft use a .016 diameter wire, and for lines from 35 to 50 ft use .018 diameter wire. If you contemplate using an engine of smaller than .049 cubic displacement, we personally feel that a line size of 25 ft and .014 diameter would be ideal.
However, it is extremely inadvisable to use a line diameter smaller than .014, for to do so would produce insufficient torsional control, resulting in inadequate response on the elevators. We used a 35 ft line of .016 diameter for both the .049 and .074 Cub engines. The .074 Cub was also flown on 50 ft .018 diameter lines, which we thought was particularly note-worthy.
From our own experience, we have come to the conclusion that the 'Mono-Line' system has considerable merit and warrants exploitation. Whether you will prefer it to the two-line system we could not say. We do feel that in the case of our Mono-Sport design, the desirable features of the Mono-Line weighed heavily in its favor. However, as mentioned before, don't take our word for it, try it yourself and note the results... "

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
