Lil Louie has all the necessary attributes of any good free-flight contest model. It is easy to build, is a consistent flyer and, most important to the beginner, is extremely easy to adjust. The basic design was developed over four years ago and, ever since, has seldom failed to do well in local meets along the East Coast, and as far West as Kansas and Colorado. To date, we have entered a total of twenty-four 1/2A events with this design and have been pushed out in the cold only four times. Twenty times, the ship has placed in the money. Fifteen times in first, seconds or third places including the Mirror Model Flying Fair. Building time is an important factor to the contest flier. And, even if the coming year is to be your first contest season, you should have no trouble turning out one of these ships in six or seven working hours.

Wing and Stabilizer: Looking at the plans will show that the wing and stabilizer construction is conventional. Nothing more need be said except you may find it convenient to make the stab ribs out of 1/16" x 1/4" strips and sand the finished stab to airfoil shape as a time saver. The anti-wrap ribs can best be shaped in this fashion. Be sure to include them. They will save you head-aches later on. Cover both wing and stab with Jap tissue, light Silkspan or Skysail paper. Red, yellow or orange are the best colors for contest work because of visibility..."
