About this Plan

Flippit. Simple chuck glider.

Quote: "Flippit, By Paul E Del Gatto.

The Flippit is a high performance hand-launch glider, the design of which allows for a varying range of adjustments. This enables the inexperienced glider man to adjust and readjust the model, until he finds the pattern of flight and recovery that best suits his throwing technique.

Construction of the model is fairly simple, even for a beginner. Just cut the component parts to the full-size shapes shown. In the case of the fuselage, only the ends are given in the plan as space did not allow for the complete length. The portion omitted is straight throughout.

Use sandpaper and cement gen-erously throughout the construction and assembly of the glider. For a finish, apply two or three light coats of dope, sanding with 10-0 sandpaper between each coat, to enhance the model's appearance as well as its performance.

The Flippit features one wing panel larger than the other, thus incorporating a moderate amount of turn. Any additional turn adjustments should be made with the rudder, producing a tighter and better coordinated turn. If you are a left-hander, reverse the wing panels so that the inherent turning characteristics will remain opposite the direction of launching."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
