About this Plan

Modern Mulvihil. Free flight canard power model. For .035 to .065 engines.

Quote: "Modern Mulvihill, by Paul Del Gatto

Every once in a while we think back to the days 'that used to wuz,' and think longingly of the hot flying model's we had. One of these was a pusher rubber-powered model.

These old-fashioned models flew well and often times soared out on thermals while stalling away at a rythmic bounce. It was only a few years ago when we saw the last twin-pusher model used in competition. Built just like the old Mulvihills, it was entered in the rubber-powered event. It won hands down, again proving that pusher stability has something to be desired.

The urge to build another twin-pusher began to creep into our thoughts more frequently. Slowly we were losing the fight as we could find fewer and fewer reasons why we shouldn't build one. The last straw came when we heard one too many TV commercials. We decided to 'live modern' and built a gassie pusher!

Well now, this won't win contests - we didn't say so. But, it will give you many hours of Sport flying fun and it's guaranteed to make you the center of attraction. Your friends may even desert you, but fear not for when they see the first flight they'll be chasing you for plans.

After flying this ship you might even cook up a few ideas of your own, for you'll realize immediately that the pusher is not dead. There's plenty of life in this type yet and you might be the one to come up with a pace-setter. In the meantime, why not live modern and try this souped-up oldie?

Construction-wise, with the exception of the engine mounting, the model closely simulates the type of structure which was used in twin pushers before their reign came to an end.

We're not intimating that with this design the twin pusher will be restored to life and again be the leader amongst model designs. But we do feel that once you have built and flown this twin pusher you will realize that the old timers are not far from right when they say: remember the good old days.

THE 'A' FRAME: The model is quite simple even for someone who has not had extensive model building experience..."

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
