About this Plan

Vagabond. Free flight power model by Bill Winter. This is the Vagabond as it appeared in 1949, published in the UK in the Ian Allen Planbook. Note this plan does not show all formers.

Note the Vagabond was first published in MAN 1945 see Vagabond (oz8196).

Update 20/09/2016: Added a PDFvector format (CAD-redrawn) supplement version of the plan, thanks to rchopper56. This version of the plan does include all the formers.

Quote: "After a month, this is my interpretation of the 1949 Vagabond that George and Paul posted. I have reformatted the drawing so that it is 36" wide by 82" long for 36" printers. Have corrected the nose block so that there is enough wood to carve it without breaking through and leave a 3/16" wall. Also added definition for all ribs and formers plus corrected the wing ISO. Sorry boys that do not like CAD drawings. And, there is no way I can please the purists. Hope others enjoy. Gene"

Note the CAD redrawn plan from Gene is actually a bitmap. Previously I had this tagged as a vector format image, it is not. Steve.

Supplementary file notes

Redrawn plan.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
