About this Plan

Gas Bag - Free flight power model.

Quote: - "The outstanding feature of the 'Gas Bag' is that once it is on the loose it has a tendancy, more so than not, to emulate a free roving gas bag. And that means time on your hands. Simple construction eliminates the use of too many uprights and cross braces while at the same time has been proved for maximum strength..."

Here's the Gas Bag that Tony (fizzlestik) started the build thread on. As always, interesting scaling on this plan: If you build from it, apply the old adage "Measure twice, cut once"! Chuck

Update 29/08/2016: Added scan of original drawings (unscaled) thanks to TonyC.

Supplementary files

Article pages, text and pics. Also, scan of 2 drawing pages as printed.

Hello Steve and Mary, Am sending the Gas bag scan done before being reduced to post on RC groups. I was once told that some of these old plans were, draw it to full size using the dimensions given, and that must be right as the article has no mention of obtaining a full size plan. All the best to you and family,

Hello Mary and Steve, a couple of pictures of the Gas Bag [more pics 003, 004]. Only one flight so far but it appears to be a well mannered and easy to fly model. Thanks for your site.

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
