Kapitan (oz7975)
About this Plan
Kapitan. Free flight sport biplane model. 1080mm wingspan. For .06 cu ins engine.
Quote: "The Kapitan is the conclusion of a series of sports models that began with the high wing Cadet and continued with the low wing Tourist. The experience gained with the previous models was incorporated in this design and so construction is extremely simple and rugged. The model flew straight off the board and didn't require any alterations. This should be proof enough of the inherent stability of this particular biplane layout. The Kapitan is the most stable of the 184 models I have built in 25 years..."

Hi Mary and Steve... Wonderful set of plans and instructions by the Great Karl-Heinz Denzin... So typically German... CheersPascal - 21/08/2016
Hallo Mary, hallo Steve, the restoration has just finished in time. This year we are celebrating "60 years of Graupner Kaptain". I think my model is 25 years old [more pics 005-009]. When the weather is better, I send pictures in flight.

The snow is gone. Our flying field looks like a swimming pool. Here are some pictures of the first flight [more pics 010-014]. The plane flies very well.

I am sending photos of my Graupner Kapitan (Outerzone plan) flying with VARIOPHON (1964) reed transmitter, converted to 2,4G using Phil Green emulation encoder [more pics 015-017]. Regards from Athens, Greece.

Hello Mary, hello Steve, I send you some new pictures of my old "Graupner Kapitan" [more pics 018-022]. The pictures were taken a week ago at an Antik Meeting in Haiger (Germany) [more images online http://mfsv-haiger.de/8-amd-antik-freundschaftsfliegen-in-haiger/nggallery/thumbnails].

Hi, my name is Salaheddine, 77 years old. I build the Kapitan airplane in 1973, it was fantastic. I love it very much, here's a foto of it [pic 025]. Best regards,
Salaheddine Mokahal - 30/03/2022
Those must have been great days, Salaheddine, one photograph is enough to bring memories back. Nice, flat, big flying field, you could land anywhere!

Two photos of the Kapitän my dad built [pics 026, 027]. Freeflight with Taifun Tornado Mk I diesel, large engine for light model! The model flew very well and my dad knew how to trim it so we didn't have to go far to retrieve it (ca 1958).

Bonjour, Please find attached a photo of my Kapitän [pic 028], to put on the page of the same name, if possible. I thank you in advance,
Bien cordialement,

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
