About this Plan

RAF BE2E. Scale model for rubber power. Span 30-1/4in, scale is 1/16. Hi Steve and Mary, I've attached a copy of FSI plan B-8 R.A.F. B.E.2e. Please could you credit Mr D. Plumpe with preparing this pdf version of the plan? Kind regards,

Direct submission to Outerzone.

Update 15/03/2016: Replaced this plan with a clearer scan, thanks to anon, DBraun.

Quote: "Hi Steve, I've attached a freshly scanned and cleaned copy of the FSI BE2e. As this has been scanned and cleaned from an original FSI plan the scaling is as per the original plan. Please could you credit Mr D. Braun for the work done to make this plan available? There's improvements for other plans on the way but we're still looking for the final two FSI plans. All the best"

Supplementary file notes

Previous scan version.

    ScaleType: This (oz7449) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Aircraft_Factory_B.E.2
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

The scaling on this plan is slightly uncertain. I think this is correct now, at just over 30in wingspan. But that may change. If anyone can definitely confim the correct wingspan of this plan as FSI supplied it, that would be great, thanks.

Hi, The VintageAviator has some great photos and data on BE2e they restored on thevintageaviator.co.nz They show a span of 40ft 9in, which at 1/16 scale comes out to 30.56 inches. A difficult plane to track variations on, since the Royal Aircraft Factory made a revised set of wings (E version) and then retrofitted them to older models and carried them forward into newer models. So one might see E wings on a C or D fuselage.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
