About this Plan

Pusher Sportster. Free flight sport model.

Quote: "So the Pusher is officially done. But after all the scaling & measuring, I noticed after I finished, the wingspan is 48" instead of 50", as per the plan. Once again things just don't add up, even though the scale squares are correct and the wood sizes are correct. But then again, this depends where you take your measurements from. Nothing is really very accurate on these drawings, as I know they never envisioned what we're doing with scanning and a computer!

I put in the correct measurement (text) on the plan, for the main wing spar which should be 1/4 x 1/2, not 1/4 x 1/4.

As for the center section, I'd reinforce it, maybe sheet it. In addition to that, at the rear on the outside of the fuse, I'd put some balsa angle stock to support the rear of the wing. It doesn't show it on the plan, but if you look close at the picture of the fuse, you can see the blocks at the rear. So there you have it, stretch the wing out two more inches and you'll have a "Fun Flyer" as Mr. Winter put it or be daring and fly the short wing version! (Or maybe someone else can correct the wing...I'm going to take a break from plan restoration for a while, to catch up on building)"

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
