Rambler Too (oz71)
About this Plan
Modern redrawn plan. Re-engineered for 3 channel RC assist by Richard Bradford.
This is a re-design of the classic 1939 Gil Shurman Rambler (oz2587) free-flight design.
Update 13/11/2019: Replaced this plan with a re-scaled version at correct wingspan of 72 in, thanks to Gnomelike. "Dear All, I've done a quick re-size. But warning warning: it will need FORTY EIGHT A4 pages to print out!"
Supplementary file notes
Previous scan version.

Thanks to Pablo Cipponeri for this photo of his electric version of the Rambler Too, with 78 inch wingspan [more pics 003].Mary - 16/08/2016
I was looking for a plan of the Rambler gas model from Flying Aces, Sept. 1939 and came across this "modern redrawn plan," which takes a lot of liberties with a much thicker stab airfoil and modifications for radio control. If somebody has a copy of the magazine, it would be great to have a plan of the original model. It's very popular in North America because it was actually designed and built in 1938 and thus falls into the Antique class for SAM free flight. Please keep up the good work!

This planfile is scaled strangely, and prints out at 42.5 inches wingspan - although the plan itself has 72 in span written on it. Thanks to Chuck for pointing this out. Since this is a vector format plan, it is frankly beyond my skills to re-size it without doing horrible damage. Anyone out there who could jump in and re-scale this one nicely, now would be a good time.

No problem, just print it at 173%, you'll be very close

Ok, this is fixed now, thanks to Gnomelike :)

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
