About this Plan

Azizo. Radio controlled glider model.

Quote: "The Azizo, a proven 'club-design' refined by years of field-tested improvements is brought to you as a SVENSON kit for your flying pleasure. Your Azizo will be your tearless passport to R/C flying. Main features: easy building with step by step photo-instructions, roomy fuselage to accommodate any R/C installation and versatility: a rock-stable thermal glider, the Azizo can be used as a rudder-only slope soarer or doubles up as a power-assisted glider when equipped with its power pod."

Quote: "The AZIZO of Svenson, made in Belgium. It's a good sail plane , with paper of Japan covering. I fly it from 1973 until 2015."

Steve; are you a wizard? The plan is better than my plan! Congratulations for your work, the world can enjoy. This glider is one of the best. Thanks,
Julien - 28/08/2015
Hello Steve. 1976 I was a proud owner of a Svenson Azizo. Today, forty years later I scratch built it again with a download plan from your famous site [see more pics 004, 005]. Another sample of my works here on youtube at www.youtube.com Many thanks for your work! With kind regards from Switzerland.

Here are my two yellow AZIZO gliders, 30 and 15 years old [more pics 007, 008]. Flew quite a lot in the French mountains.

Hi Steve and Mary, Here the construction of the AZIZO [pics 009-011], this 70s glider is really a pleasure to build! The glider is also one of the best of all time. This was also my first glider with RC in 1973. Lightweight and sturdy, unbreakable in normal conditions. With 40 year old SOLARFIM covered, light and strong covering.
Kind regards from AALTER, Belgium,

Hi Steve and Mary; Here is the finished AZIZO [pic 012], we are still waiting for a nice day in March 2021. Then there are nice days, and there is already thermals. It weighs only 430 grams without radio control. A nice weight, I am very satisfied.
Kind regards,

Hi Mary, my latest build [pics 014, 015], this AZIZO is completely hand built, no power tools, no computer controlled lasers. Built with jigsaw and knife, this gives hours of construction fun. This is how all my model airplanes are built. I make the cockpit like this; heat the plastic in the oven, and then pull it over a wooden mold. Very simple, but requires some experience. The AZIZO is now ready for its Oracover finish. Kind regards,

Hi Mary; This is white AZIZO, latest construction [pics 016, 017], I have a large stock of balsa wood from years away. Building a model airplane only costs me the covering. I love to build, but I also love to fly, especially gliding. Last month it was great gliding weather here, hopefully a few days this month as well. Next week the white AZIZO will be ready for its first flight. Kind regards,

The first flight on Saturday was a success. It flew very well, 30 min whit 2200 ma accu 3 celss.

Hi Outerzone, Here's a picture [pic 018] of my new Svenson' glider AZIZO (oz6976). I'm waiting windless day for the maiden flight. Best regards,

Beautiful AZIZO in original colors, this year is the worst year since I flew with RC models, the summer is half way, no thermals, cold weather here in Belgium.
Hopefully better days will come now, an AZIZO can tolerate wind but not too much, the AZIZO flies better with the V-position of the Sunny, a little more is better.
Its center of gravity must be slightly higher than on the plan, be careful during the first flight, note that the rudder should be like that of Sunny, too small as on Azizo's plan.It is also a pleasure with a small electric motor between the wings instead of a glow motor cox, no noise, no dirty oil on the model, can restart in the air, cheaper because fuel for Cox motor is expensive, with a 2200 mA 3 cels you fly motor for more than 7 minutes, and you can stay in the air for 1 hour during thermals.
Good luck, greetings Julien Vermeire.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
