Quote: "Hi Steve, One of your fans wanted the Contest kits XC-4. I have located one and cleaned it. It needed resizing so I did that as well for you. Note the wing is 1/2 size and the body full size. Best regards"

Hi Steve, as the fan who put the XC4 on the wish list, I was over the moon to find the plan on Outerzone this morning. I am sending a couple of additional drawings that appeared in the aeromodelling press at the time. I built one of these when I was 15. It was the only way we could afford building a 100mph model on pocket money in those days. This model is NOT a toy and you need a big flying area (we had the 9000 ft V-bomber airfield at RAF Gaydon !). I finished up using an old Wakefield rubber model motor as the catapult and it was blindingly fast. I built a second larger in the late 60's with split elevons and it could be trimmed to do a roll or three at the top of the climb before settling down for the glide. Best regards and many thanks again !!ChrisPinn - 12/08/2015
Wow, have you got the plan of the enlarged version? The plan does not show the rubber band that pulls up the elevator when flying speed drops down from insane fast!! That is a key feature of course, along with the hinge. But it is shown on the picture. My friend had one back in 1965 in the UK, it is so fast and small that we lost it! So a really bright colour scheme is worthwhile, don't leave as clear doped balsa as we did. Cheers,

Btw, my friend now informs me that he remembered that you needed to tension the elevator (so it lied flat) with an old English penny !

Unfortunately I do not have a plan of the larger one I built. It was around 50 years ago! However you'll find exactly what you're looking for if you check out the plan High Speed Delta (oz7672).

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
