Flying Fool. Biplane model by Charles B Adams, published in the November 1946 issue of Air World magazine.

Quote: "This nifty-looking little bipe has a span of 16in, just the right size for sport flying.

The Flying Fool is so easy to build that you can get it off your work bench and in the air in less than two days. The plans shown are full size. Just remove them from the magazine, cover with wax paper, and reach for some 3/32 strips to begin the fuselage.

Build the two fuselage sides first, one over the other for accuracy. Separate with a razor blade and attach together at the tail end. Working from the tail forward, add the cross braces, then attach the bulkheads, as shown on the drawing. Build up the nose block by laminating sections of 3/16 sheet, sand to shape and glue securely to front of fuselage structure. 3/32 square stringers are placed as indicated along the top of the fuselage. Build in the upper wing mount at this point and also cover the cockpit section with either 1/32 sheet balsa or heavy bond. The tail surfaces are cut from 1/16 sheet, note wood grain direction on dorsal fin of rudder. Sand lightly to remove rough edges and attach to fuselage. Watch while drying to maintain correct lineup.

Using the wing section template shown on the plans, cut out the required number of ribs and build the wings in the conventional manner. Don't forget, however, to tilt the strut attachment ribs to allow the proper placement of the struts which are formed from 1/16 sheet.

The propeller should now be laid out as per dimensions on plan. If you have difficulty in carving propellers, a ready made balsa prop can be substituted, but for best flying results try carving your own..."
