ScaleType: This (oz673) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinkel_He_177
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

Hi Steve, this plan is from Mr Klaus Nietzer. Published by the Flugmodell und Technik FMT Magazin in 1972. Scale is 1.12 Wingspan 2700mm Length 1800mm Engines 2x 6,5cc... Greetings from Luxembourg, Best regards,Pascal - 16/09/2013

Please note : The plan is the 2/3 version ! Wingspan is ca 1,8 m.

Plan scales out at 107 inches wing span not 1.8 metres
Ted Avey - 13/02/2022
Hello! Did you already print the plan?

There seems to be some differences in opinion about the size of this plan. I started building the Greif last year. When I printed the plans, the tip panels measured 36 1/2” long. The center panel is 33” long, for a total of 106” wingspan. The overall fuselage length is 71”. These numbers agree with the specifications that are shown on the plans. Wingspan of 2.7 meters, and an overall length of 1.8 meters. As far as construction, I’m doing balsa/foam construction. I already have the wings sheeted. I’m using a vacuum bag, and laminating epoxy for the adhesive. I have cut the fuselage from foam also. I cut the outside, or external profile first. Then came back and cut an interior profile leaving about a 1/2” thick wall thickness of foam. I’ll sheet both the inside, and outside, of the foam with 1/16” balsa, then glue the two halves together. I’ve used this method of building several times previously, and have always been pleased with the results. I have started making a plug that I will use to make a mold, and thus be able to make a pair of epoxy/fiberglass nacelles. Then the final tooling details will be to make vacuum forming plugs in order to make the glazed nose, and tail gunner’s bubble/canopy. As far as power, I guess I’ll really add fuel to the fire, when I say I’m planning on using a pair of Supertigre .34 two stroke glow engines. In relation to the overall wingspan, the two engines are fairly close together. Therefore, one engine out, will not result in an uncontrolled crash. You’ll have to trust me on this one. I’ve had several other planes with this same setup and it’s always worked. I hope this has helped to clarify some of the differences in wingspan interpretations. As far as other Klaus Nietzer designs, I’m building his Junkers 290 as the same time, and with the same type of construction methods.

Plans from FMT were often printed at a reduced scale, often 2/3 size. Looks like this is one of them. I think the confusion here comes from the meaning of 'this plan'. Some people will read 'this plan' as meaning this here PDF planfile (and the size it will print at). Some people will read 'this plan' as meaning the designer's original intention (and thus the wingspan of the original prototype model). The two meanings are often not identical. Because many magazine plans were/are not printed at 100% scale. Me, I try to use 'planfile' when talking about the PDF hosted on Oz. But I myself am not very consistent.

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
