About this Plan
Yahoo 40. High performance sport biplane.
Quote: "Hi Steve. Back in the mid 1980s, I designed and built a .40 sized aerobatic biplane that turned out to be a lot of fun. It flew very nicely - much better than I expected - and was built by several club members too. Over the next few years, I developed and refined it a fair bit and thought I might as well see if RCM would be interested in a construction article. They were, so I put something together and they published the plan and article in their December 1993 issue.
I think it must have been the first CAD plan they had ever come across. In my submission, I sent them just the DWG file thinking they would take it from there. The editor, Dick Kidd, asked me what that was and what he was supposed to do with it! So, per his request, I had it plotted on mylar and mailed the hard copy to him. That would be what they used for they plans they offered for sale.
My attached submission to you is based on the original CAD drawing from 1993, essentially unchanged. I don't seem to have a usable original hard copy. Because of all the hardware and software changes there have been over the last 25 or so years, the file doesn't plot exactly the same as the original mylar I sent to RCM but the differences are very minor and involve only things like the rendering of some font styles.
The files I'm sending you are a PDF (plotted directly from the original CAD file), the CAD file itself (I would certainly do things quite a bit differently now!), and a scan of the published article (from a somewhat aged and yellowed copy of the magazine). I hope these are of some interest and use to you.
Thank you for everything you do to bring Outerzone to the modeling world. It is truly a world-class operation without equal anywhere, and is doing far more to encourage the continuation of the essence of our hobby than any other organization or entity of any kind, anywhere. May it live forever!
Cheers,"

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
