Playboy Senior (oz6384) 1960 - plan thumbnail

About this Plan

Playboy Senior. Free flight power model, for Cox TD .020 power. Wingspan 36 in.

Note the Playboy Senior (oz7835) dates back to 1939. This here is a later scaled-down version.

Update 9/7/2024: Added printwood files, thanks to Dave Lentz. These are in 3 files: raw scan of the wooden parts, re-drawn versions in DXF and PDF.

Quote: "Hi, A couple of years ago I sent in pictures of the kit I obtained. Unfortunately, the die-cut part sheets did not have the part patterns printed as well as die-cut. I am getting ready to build this kit. I thought it would be criminal not to document the wood part patterns somehow. I removed all the parts from the die-cut sheets, placed the parts on my home printer/scanner and scanned them in. They are not ideal, but I am sending you the four scans I made [see: Printwood raw scan]. I don't know if you can do anything with them or not, or if they are even usable as is to post for scratch building.

Also I have traced the scans now into CAD and created a sort of print wood type file. On the print wood you will see a few part numbers that are not on the original drawing. I added F9.1 and F9.2 for the fuselage that is just the horizontal. Stab platform at the aft end of the fuselage. And part number S4 (2 ea) for the Vert stab bottom. I did so in preparation to make laser cut file(s) so the builder wouldn't make them from plain 1/16 inch stock."

Supplementary file notes

Printwood raw scan.
Printwood redrawn, CAD (dxf in a zipfile).
Printwood redrawn, PDF.

Hi Steve, I was most fortunate to obtain the actual kit for this model. I've attached photos that I hope you will find good enough to add to this plan file/ comments [003-008]. The rolled plan in the kit is the exact one you show on your website. Unfortunately, the wood is die-cut and does not show the patterns. Since this model is designed for a Cox 020TD (shown on the plan), the plan design must be circa 1960. Hopefully I will build this soon so I can submit some photos for it.

Doh, my mistake. The CAD zipfile was empty, I failed to actually put the dxf in it. Fixed now.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
