Scamper Jr (oz6364)
About this Plan
Scamper Junior. Rubber sport pusher model.
Quote: "Here we have the new and unusual rubber powered free flight for fun as well as for learning something of the theory of flight. By building and flying this fine lithe pusher, you will learn about balance, trimming, thrust and flying! Scamper, by Patrick E Tritle.
If you fly rubber powered fun models, keep reading. This one really fits the description - a rubber powered fun model. The reason the aircraft came into being is because I wanted something really original - something that no one else had, and believe me, this one catches attention. Go to any flying field or park and no one has ever seen one. They all ask: Where did you get that model? In fact, my best friend had the nerve to tell me the prop was on the wrong end. So, I flew it for him and he was suddenly convinced the prop was all right just the way it was!
The whole thing came about in science class. Imagine - science class! We were watching a film on guided missiles when lo and behold, a pusher flew past
the camera. At that moment I exploded into inspiration. I was going to build a pusher!.
I searched every model store in the vicinity. After a few fruitless weeks with no kits or even a set of plans from which to work, I decided to get busy. With more determinations than ever possessed by man, I set to work at the ol' drawing board. Soon the whole idea came into being. I began to draw and before knew it. Scamper Jr was born. Plans finished, my next move was a trip to the local hobby shop for what turned out to be a buck's worth of balsa and wire.
Construction. I'll start with the fuselage since I always build that first. Cut two 1/16 x 5/8 x 6 inch wing mounting panels from firm sheet balsa. Next locate and cut out the small holes for the main wing spar. Also cut the 1/16 sheet nose pieces. Lay these over the plan and pin them in place. The rest of the side frame is 1/16 square firm balsa sticks. Lay out both side frames and glue them together, one over the other. When they have dried thoroughly, pick them up from the plan and separate them with a double edge razor blade..."

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
