About this Plan

Flanger III. Chuck glider.

Quote: "Here we have a hand launched glider with ten years of experience, that has floated on warm December breezes off the Gulf Coast, ridden winter and summer high into turbulent thermals over Iowa cornfields. Grazed girders near the topof a dirigible hangar (and won trophies doing it). Rode desert thermals in Texas, and ground risers in Willow Grove. It has won many contests all over this big country of ours, and in the hands of many different flyers. Ans perhaps most important, it has been the trining ground for quite a number of good hand launch men.

Did you ever stop to think: What is the difference between a handmade glider and a store-bought slip-together type? They both have a wing, a tail and a fuselage.

But now a second question. Take all the advantages of a handmade glider, and then explain, why are there some HL birds that outclimb, outglide, out-maneouver and out-last the great undoped millions of average gliders?

You know, its the little things. The time you take to get the exact airfoil section..."

Quote: "Flanger by Larry Conover, a man who knows his stuff. A moderately simple HLG with a DT..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
