Quote (google-translated): "MT Construction Plan 683. Blue Angel Aircraft Artistic Model. The model of Tsugutaka Yoshioka, the 1973 RC World Champion.

To build the wing, you will need a sufficiently large, flat, and stable building board, as the wing is constructed in one piece. Attach the plan and draw the outline of the second wing half onto your building board. To protect the plan from damage, it is best to place tracing paper over it. You can trace the undrawn wing half directly from the plan by placing tracing paper over the plan and tracing the printed lines with a fine-tipped pen.

Now attach the mitered main spars (5 x 10 mm balsa) to the construction plan and glue the reinforcement spars (5 x 10 x 30 mm balsa) to the main spars in the wing center. Next, attach ribs F3 and F15 to the main spar according to the plan. Position the leading edge strips (7 x 18 mm balsa) and the trailing edge strips (6 x 6 mm balsa) in front of and behind them, respectively, so that they are centered exactly in front of the ribs. For maximum precision, mark the centerline on the leading and trailing edge strips and the airfoil axis on the ribs. To hold the strips in place, support them with balsa scraps and then secure them with pins.

Now take ribs F4 through F16, fit them into position, and pin them in place after precise alignment. Afterward, all ribs can be glued in place, ideally using a brush to apply the glue. Do not glue ribs F3 in place yet.

Please note: If you want to equip your Blue Angel with retractable landing gear, you must cut out ribs F5, F6, and F7 according to your landing gear specifications. See the plan! Ribs F6 and F7 are also reinforced with parts F26 and F27. The holes for the retraction linkage must also be drilled before gluing the ribs in place. If you do not want to build retractable landing gear, purchase slotted strips and cut out ribs F4 and F7 accordingly. Then, the ribs must be reinforced with plywood strips.

After gluing the ribs to the main spar, leading edge, and trailing edge, reinforcements FV1, FV2, and FV3 can also be installed according to the plan. Finally, glue in rib FV3, ensuring a strong connection between the reinforcement, ribs, and main spar. Parts Fl and F2 can now also be glued in place, ensuring that the recess faces downwards. Next, glue the reinforcing spar to the lower main spar and then glue it into the remaining open rib recesses. Now, glue the landing gear mounting blocks F28 between ribs F6 and F7 into the corresponding recesses. Allow everything to dry thoroughly before proceeding.

Before planking the wing, carefully sand any rib protrusions on the trailing edges. Begin at the wing's leading edge. Place the planks on the surface and mark the exact dimensions..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
