Thanks Steve for hosting a great site. You are truly appreciated. Attached is a picture of my 2x Frog Tomtit model [see more pics].

Hi Steve and Mary, I hope this email finds you both well. Amidst the lockdown I have been building again. This time another from the Frog Senior series, the Tomtit [main pic, plus 004-007].
Modifications were as follows:
1) built up tail surfaces with laminated outlines.
2) additional 1/16 sq cross braces in the rear fuselage to prevent a starved horse look once covered.
3) top decking from 1mm sheet balsa.
4) cabane pylon from four laminations of 1/32 balsa with inner laminations positioned at 45 degrees to the outer laminations (as opposed to the two sheets of 1/16 balsa with the grain running in the same direction.
5) strip planking as opposed to a solid block for the upper cowl.
6) much hollowed lower cowl block.
7) internally retained laminated balsa wheels (5 lams of 1/32 with grain running at different angles, reinforced with 0.4mm ply and bushed with carbon fibre tube with bulged plastic hubcaps made from some discarded vacuum formed plastic packaging).
The finish is Peck white tissue on the fuselage and blue Sams Superlite blue tissue on the wings. Trim is with blue Sams Superlite and red Esaki. I added some windscreen framing, a pilot (all of 0.3grams) and an instrument panel to pretty it up a bit.
The propeller was carved from a Lou Garami designed blank and has a P/D ratio of 1.3.
All up weight without rubber is 31.65 grams or 1.11 ounces in old money. Heavier than I’d hoped but nevertheless, it feels like it wants to fly!
Best Regards and as always, my eternal thanks for all of the fantastic work you do in providing us with Outerzone."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
