Olympic Challenger (oz5755)
About this Plan
Olympic Challenger. Radio control sports model, for .19 to .35 engines and 4 channel RC. Wingspan 48 in. Sterling Kit # FS39.
Quote: "One of the last large Sterling RC kits made prior to the Estes takeover, the Olympic Challenger, for .19 to .35. Can hold up to about a 6 ounce tank. Nice looking. The die cut parts scans aren't the clearest, since I traced the cuts with a soft lead drafting pencil. I think the scans kind of show the variation in hardness of balsa used, which was a hallmark of Sterling kits. I seem to remember a report in an old American Modeler that Manulkin of Sterling was one of the original developers of die cutting, AKA Die Crushing. I did try to put 6in scales on the plans, and the sheet sizes on the die cut sheets before scanning them."
Update 31/03/2020: Added kit review from Model Builder August 1985, thanks to RFJ.

These are the files I have on the decals for the Sterling Olympic Challenger [more pics 006 & suppl. file]. I know these are cut up, but the colors show up nicely and the decal sheets are complete for both of the model versions shown on the kit box label.JeffGreen_LasVegas - 03/08/2018

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
