This was my first hand launched glider, built when I was in Jr high school. I was disappointed when it didn't look anything like the picture on the box, and the wingspan was a lot less than 18". But it did fly well and it taught me how to make a good wing joint using Ambroid when my previous attempts fell apart. I didn't like their method of adding clay to the nose for ballast, so I used thin lead salvaged from an Ambroid tube instead. Later, larger gliders flew much better, thanks to the lessons learned...

Hi all, Great site, I look at it everyday for new plans! Please find attached an image of a recent Thermic 18 I built [more pics 003]. Probably one of the best plan-built gliders I have built to date; nice and simple construction and flight characteristics are great. Will be making more!!

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
