Haisman Wakefield (oz5662)
About this Plan
Haisman Wakefield. Rubber contest model by BV Haisman. World distance record holder in 1947. From Model Aircraft, May 1948.
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Quote: "At the time it made its world's record flight this model was by no means new, as it originally made its appearance in open contests in 1940, and it has recorded a steady series of successes since, culminating in the record flight of 29.4 km achieved from Hawarden Aerodrome to Whitegate on July 6th, on the occasion of the 1947 North-Western Area Rally.
Other notable flights were 9 min 53 sec on its first day out; the highest time in the Northern Area for the flight cup in 1947 (9 min 33 sec aggregate); and 51 min out of sight at Hawarden; all r.o.g. In its career it has been lost three times, and has spent 18 days in the open exposed to the weather without ill effects, except to the covering, demonstrating its robustness if properly built with religious adherence to double gluing, for all the joints.
We are pleased to present the working drawings of this model to our readers through the kind cooperation of its designer Mr. B. V. Haisman, who has prepared the following notes on its construction..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
