El Petardo (oz5565)
About this Plan
El Petardo. Free flight power sport model for .049 power.
Quote: "Hello, Steve, Here I submit you another Mexican plan: El Petardo (The Fire cracker) by Casa Vega, a small but very well known kit maker/seller among Mexican hobbysts, now extinct. Two weeks ago a model built with this plan won a small competition here in the vecinities of Mexico City, as it has been happening with the same model since the 60s when it was designed. I ignore the exact year when it was released. The instructions and else is in Spanish language but to all who know their way around building from plans it will represent no trouble at all. With a span of 30in and a Cox .049 it really pays homage to it name. Included are some pics of Marco Guillermo's rendition of El Petardo."

I have long admired this model and have archived the plan in my computer . Today as I was viewing it I noticed some anomalies with the wing layout . The top view of the plan shows a substantial spar (3/16 th square) on the lower surface that is not shown as to dimensions and also does not show on the side view of the wing rib profile . Instead that feature shows a top of rib spar which looks to be 3/32 inch square . The excellent photos of the model shows these differences in fairly sharp relief ! The stabilizer is covered perfectly . There may be more wing spars than I have addressed .Allen Wale - 22/09/2024

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
