Quote: "Cessna Bird Dog from Hegi for you. Bird Dog, constructed by K.H. Denzin, comes in the end of the 50th. This model basically used for freeflight, was constructed also as a control-line-model and later for installing first radio equipment (rudder only) Plan No. HEGI 100 - techn. data: wingspan 1200mm, Glow-Engine 1.78 cc.
Direct submission to Outerzone. Best Regards from Germany."

Quote (google-translated): "Hegi 100. Cessna L-19 Bird Dog. Plans for Construction.
General: With the Cessna L 19, we provide modelers with a model aircraft that can be built as a free-flight, radio-controlled, or control-line model, as desired. All plywood and balsa wood parts are largely pre-cut and marked with the numbers shown in the building plan. The plug-in construction of our Cessna is so simple, even for less experienced modelers, that they can build this true-to-life model without difficulty.
Minor modifications compared to the full-size aircraft have significantly improved the model's durability and flight characteristics. We recommend reading the building instructions carefully and, above all, carrying out the gluing work cleanly and meticulously.
L 19 Bird Dog (Cessna) as a free-flight model:
Fuselage assembly: The landing gear 20 is attached to frame 5 using the four cotter pins 21. The fuselage side panels 11, the two plywood frames 5 and 6 with the tenons are inserted into the cutouts of the side panels, aligned according to the plan, and glued. The two frames are tacked in place with pins until dry.
Now, frames 3-4 and 7-10 with the braids are inserted into the fuselage side panels, aligned, glued, and tacked in place with pins. (Attention! For control line models, refer to the special installation instructions!) The auxiliary frame 18, which serves to better support the planking, can now be fitted and glued.
While the glued parts dry, we make the tail skid. The steel wire 24 is bent as shown in the plan, inserted through the previously drilled support plate 23, sewn with strong thread, and glued (see drawing 1). Then we solder the tail wheel 25 in place and glue the finished tail section to the location shown in the plan. (Attention! For radio control models, refer to the special assembly instructions!) At the same time, part 22, which is intended for the elevator support, can be glued on. Glue the reinforcing strips 13 over frames 5 and 6 and to the lower ends of the fuselage sides. Glue the two reinforcing strips 12 to parts 13, as shown in the plan.
The upper and lower planking 16 on the rear part of the fuselage is now glued on. We cut balsa wood strips that taper and glue them securely to the frames; the strips must be held in place with pins (see Figure II). The cabin planking 14 is glued to the frames, the reinforcing strips, and the fuselage sides.
The engine bulkhead 2 is glued to the fuselage front with the side panels. Ensure that this bulkhead is installed perfectly straight. Then fit the two form blocks 26 and glue them securely. The lower block has a recess for the tail skid, which is filled with balsa wood pieces and glued shut after the form block 26 is fitted. The lower front planking 16 is now also applied in strips.
Now the fuel tank 42 can be installed. Since we don't know which version you have chosen, we are providing the approximate fuel tank capacity for each version: for free flight with engines up to 1 cc, a tank for 6-8 cc is sufficient; for radio control, use a tank with a capacity of 15-20 cc for 0.8-1.7 cc engines; For control line flying with 1.5-2.5 cc engines, we recommend a 20-30 cc fuel tank. The tank is installed in the location indicated on the plan, wedged in place, and glued. The front upper planking 16, which we now install, completes this section of the planking..."

ScaleType: This (oz5346) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.
If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.
Notes:
ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cessna_O-1_Bird_Dog
Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.
Corrections? Use the correction form to tell us the new/better ScaleType link we should be using. Thanks.

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
