Scram (oz5318)
About this Plan
Scram. Rubber model. Lightweight contest model.
Quote: "THIS model is the latest of a long line of highly successful lightweights. This type of model requires skill and patience in building to produce the best results, in fact, the lighter the model the greater the need for accuracy. The application of the covering in particular needs care. Start with an unwarped air frame, apply the tissue evenly, and do not distort the wings and tail, etc. Pin down all flying surfaces after water spraying and doping. Go easy with the dope and water, and after doping, leave everything pinned down far at least 24 hrs.
Construction. Select four lengths or medium hard white 3/32 in sq balsa, of even grain, weight, and strength, and pin 2 lengths down on the side elevation on the plan (waxing this first). Then cut 1/16 in sq spacers, from medium stock, and cement them squarely into position, allow an hour for this to dry and then build another side on top. When quite set, sand the outermost side with fine glasspaper on a block of cork, lift from plan and sand the opposite side.
Now separate with a knife and fit spacers at the wins LE. and TE positions, and also at the nose and the rubber anchorage points. When these are firmly glued, fit in the remaining spacers and sand the top and bottom. Fill in with 1/16 in sheet at nose bay, tail, etc., and add wire u/c leg..."

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
