Hello Mary! Photos of my Cessna Cardinal [main pic, 005-010]. Very Nice plan to build! TKS!
Eldon Masini - 24/08/2020
Hello there, My name is Christopher A. MacBrian, and I'm a 52 year old disabled combat veteran from Desert Storm. I have been into model building since I was around 14, and have never stopped since. In the past recent few years since the COVID 19 pandemic began, I got back into flying balsa model kits again, which I'm enjoying immensely. This summer I've been building a bunch of P-nut scale rubber powered airplanes and I have been using the OuterZone website for all the build projects. So far, I have three models finished up when I started building them this past late June. One model I built in particular is the Cessna 177RG Cardinal and I really like the example photos featured on the site. The blue turquoise color goes great with that black & white quite well, and the stylized markings fit the model well. The one thing that personally catches my eye is the landing gear because it's abnormally tall to accommodate the prop, and I thought that there's got to be a better way. I used floats as landing gear instead [pics 011-015], and I think it helps take away the disproportionate look... I have attached the photos of the Peanut scale Cessna Cardinal 177RG that I think would be good enough for submission, and to share with others out on the internet. Thanks for creating this web site - without it, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to build old models of the forgotten past. I greatly appreciate it!

Christopher - You're right, mounting it on floats, as you've done, does away with the awkwardness of the spindly landing gear. A very nice and prettily finished rendition!

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
