Quote: "DIRECTIONS FOR BUILDING & FLYING: This model is designed to give the model builder with some initial experience the opportunity to construct a realistic flyer of rugged construction.
Before beginning the actual construction of the model, look over the plans and pictures carefully to obtain a general idea of the construction. If any difficulties appear, try to construct the model as far as possible. Most of the work will become simple as work progresses. In all cases take your time, making sure that all parts are correctly cut and aligned.
Select a flat board, table top, or workbench for layout work. It is best to have a model knife, pliers, and sandpaper handy.
THE FUSELAGE: Cover the side view of the fuselage with wax paper. Lay 3/32 sq longerons along the bold black lines. You will note that the bottom longerons included with the kit are not as long as necessary. Splice the bottom longerons just to the rear of B-10.
To build the second side exactly the same, construct directly over the first side. When the cement has dried, separate the two sides and proceed to put the horizontal cross members in place. Insert the cross members first at stations B-4,5, & 6. Then proceed to work towards the front and rear.
Cut out the fuselage bulkheads from the printed wood but do not notch them. It is best to cement the cut out parts in their correct place as you cut them out in order to avoid losing them. Form the wire landing gear and cement it in position at this time. Apply several coats of cement to the landing gear, allowing each coat to dry at least ten minutes. It is also desireable to bind the landing gear to the longerons with thread.
Study the sketch of the pylon carefully before assembly. Cut parts from printed wood and assemble. Cut all notches for stringers to fit the stringers in a smooth curve. If necessary, do not follow the printed notches exactly. Cover cockpit outline and dummy motor cowl with sheet balsa. Add stringer to side of fuselage.
TAIL SURFACES: The stabilizer is built similar to a wing. Care should be taken in bending the leading edge. Steam the edge, if necessary. Hold in place with pins while the cement is drying. The rudder is flat and sanded to a streamline section after assembly. R-4 is used as an adjustment tab. It is held to R-3 with paper hinges.
WING: The wing is built in four sections directly on the plans. Care should be used in bending the leading edge at the tips: Steam the wood if necessary. The end rib of each section should be placed at an angle so that when the sections are cemented together, the proper dihedral will be given to the wing. Taper the trailing edge before attaching to the rest of the wing. Do not attach the trailing edge until the rest of the section is assembled.
PROPELLER: The propeller included with the kit is semi-finished. Drill a hole in the true center of the propeller to accommodate the propeller shaft. Round the corners of the blades and sand the blades to an airfoil section..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
