Mini Super (oz5107)
About this Plan
Mini Super. Radio control sport model. This is a modern CAD re-drawn plan.
Quote: "I have also added plans for a Mini Super... I'll include pictures of mine when I take them. The Mini Super (oz14119) was sold by Keil Kraft with tricycle U/C and everything held on with elastic bands. I prefer the tail dragger configuration so there she is - I also prefer not to have elastic bands on show so I bolt the wing and tail in place, the schemes I used are shown on the plan. Covering was Solartex - off cuts from the Super 90 so the colour scheme will look familiar. In fact she turned out to be a true scrap box plane - nothing new was brought in for her. The engine is a PAW 249 RC, that should give her enough get up and go. I'll let you know how things go when she has her first flight."
Direct submission to Outerzone.
Update 12/03/2018: Added article for KK plan (Aeromodeller July 1965), thanks to RFJ.

Steve, ...some pictures of the Mini Super for your use [model photo & more pics 003-005]. I had the initial flights with her yesterday and she isn't too bad, certainly more twitchy than the Super 60/90's but then that is what i would expect. There was a wing warp that produced a pronounced turn, controllable with the trim, but I have removed it now. I also think the PAW 249 is just that bit too much for her, I'm thinking that I'll make up a new plate and use a PAW 149 instead. It was good to go to the field with the minimum amount of equipment that a diesel requires, but I had forgotten how oily it all becomes, especially when compared with a four stroker. I'll let you know how that all pans out.hogal - 12/12/2013
Although a nice plan, this appears to be a 'hybrid' of the Ben Buckle plan, the Keil Kraft plan and David Boddington's original tail dragger version (plus some additional changes from Hogal). As such, it isn't faithful to any particular Mini-Super plan, but a nice version all the same.

Does anyone out there have a scan of the original KK Mini Super? If so we could usefully split this one into 2 listings, the hogal redraw and the original kit plan.

I am currently building this model with this CAD printed modern plan. I have been able to view the contents of the parts supplied in the original Mini Super Keil Kraft kit and the 3/16" thick shaped piece at the fuselage base is actually slotted to accept the sq uprights. This calls for a stronger build. I am using 5mm thick balsa and have slotted the bottom so it comes out 5mm square slots. I have imaged it if you want me to send the image? Not being pedantic but just trying to help. It WILL make the fuse sturdier for the extra effort. Cheers all,

Hi Peter, yes please, send us whatever you have, we'll add it here :)

I've found my original KK Mini Super plans... will get them copied to pdf for inclusion in outerzone in the near future.

Hi, I built a Mini Super from the kit in the early 70’s (I think). A really nice plane and not really a scaled down Super 60 - (which I also built a lot later). Mine was as-per the kit, trike uc and all, which imho really suits the plane. I had early 3-channel propo (fairly heavy 500mah deac, standard services) and used an OS max 15rc (2.5cc, not the little OS pet 1.5cc as mentioned in the article). It flew like a good trainer, not too fast or heavy. Nice and agile but not twitchy, it seemed a perfect combination at the time. It was used to train our 90yr old club member to fly with no problem! Happy days…

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
