    ScaleType: This (oz5069) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piper_PA-20_Pacer
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

This is my latest project, a Graupner Piper Tri-Pacer built from plans downloaded from Outerzone, naturally [main pic, 005-010]. It represents my father's full size Tri-Pacer he purchased and flew directly from the Piper factory in the USA to Bogotá way back in 1951. One photo [pic 009] shows from left to right my dad's instructor, my old man and William T. Piper. The next photo [pic 010] shows me sitting on the wheel of the plane when I was 5.
The model's vital statistics: Engine: ASP .12, Radio: Hobby King 4 channel. Covered with 'Chinakote' (Chinese shrink covering). Weight 2 pounds, Photos shot at my home near the town of La Calera, about 22 kilometers from Bogotá. Camera: Nikon D3200. Best wishes to all,

Eduardo, where have you put the CG? As shown on the plan or a bit forward? THX

Beautiful work on this Piper Tripacer. I had this Sterling Tripacer, the 59inch one, back in '94, I think it still lives, I restored it and flew it with an O.S.40 engine. According to the person who gave it to me, he told me that it belonged to Eduardo. You can see the photo here in outerzone.
Saludos.

Hello Hubert. Thanks for your comment. I located the CG exactly as stated on the plan. Perhaps I might need to modify it after the maiden which will hope will takie place next month. Happy New Year!! EDUARDO

Hello Eduardo,
thanks for answering to my C/G question. I asked because some insist that the C/G shown on this particular plan should be moved forward 10mm at least. You might consider this before your first flight.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I will take into account your suggestion. A little nose heavy is not bad and it can be some insurance just in case the model needs it. However, this model dates back to 1960 and I have always heard that it is a very nice flying model. Perhaps the short tail moment arm makes the model more sensitive and perhaps this is why it can be more sensitive to CG position. I will publish my results as soon as I make the maiden. Best wishes!! Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
