About this Plan

Werewolf. Control line combat model.

Update 16/4/2024: Added article, thanks to the shadow.

Quote: "Before beginning construction of this model note that two CG locations are shown. If you want to experiment with CG locations to suit your own 'feel' for a model, it may be a good idea to move the tank and firewall back about 1/2 in to give you the room you need to experiment with.

If you want to mass produce this ship for combat, you may want to omit the slanted foreward section of the leading edge. If you do, replace R-1 and R-2 with R-3. The foreward sweep of the leading edge was put in for appearance only.

Pick your material carefully and keep weight in mind. Added weight effects maneuverability especially at higher speeds.

Build this model in a manner that seems most straight foreward to you. We chose to assemble the basic wing omitting the fuselage sides and leaving the leading edge in one piece for alignment purposes. The wing may be pinned to a flat surface if you prefer. With all ribs, spar, leading edge and trailing edge in place you have your basic wing complete.

Assemble the fuselage sides, doublers and motor mounts. The center section of the leading edge may now be cut out and the two fuselage sides installed as shown. The tank may be installed next and the fuselage completed by adding the 1/16 sheeting.

Install controls and add the elevators. Leave the leading edge of the elevators and trailing edge of the wing center section square and fit close as indicated on plans.

Complete the model up to the addition of silk and rudders. Sand the entire model. The wing was covered with two pieces of silk, one on top and one on the bottom, After covering, add the twin rudders. The original was finished with clear dope over green silk, a black center section, gold rudders and gold stripes.

When launching the model have your helper point it slightly up and slightly out. Hold a little up and signal him to let go. Once airborne, feel it out through several wide maneuvers before getting too violent. One other point, when flying combat it helps to - GET MAD!"

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
