About this Plan

Golden Eagle. Radio control sailplane. 100 inch glider, from the 80s. Fibreglass fuselage.

Quote: "The Golden Eagle is by no means a trainer. On the contrary, it is a high performance contest type sailplane designed to make good pilots do even better".

Note there is a long and detailed construction article on this sailplane in Model Builder, May 1980, which also included templates for the wing ribs. See copy posted by Thermaler at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=24551783&postcount=41

Update 5/2/2023: Added kit instructions, thanks to David Bader.

Quote: "I have this kit with the plans and instructions. Scanned the instructions for anyone interested."

Anyone know if the Viking is just a larger wing span of the Golden Eagle? The fuselages look the same.

Similar but not the same. The Viking has a built up fuselage and the Golden Eagle fibre glass. Designers tend to adopt a similar construction and design styles for their models.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
