Good afternoon Mary. Photos of a Mercury Mamba from your plan oz4409 [main pic, 004, 005]. Built without undercarriage for rough field flying. DC Merlin diesel fitted. Stay safe both of you. Very best regards,

I remember building one of these when I was 15. Aeromodelling was more popular amongst schoolboys then and, with my pals Keil Kraft Plastic Hurricane and a Keil Kraft Champ, (and a pint can of 15% nitro fuel between us) on many evenings we headed off to commit aviation!
I can remember being really pleased with the Mamba as it was so simple, but flew really well - even with the slightly tired DC Wasp that then powered it. A PAW 100 diesel was added later and the dear old Mamba got even better (smelled nicer too ??)
Now at 55, I can remember a while ago when I found the PAW 100, carefully wrapped up in a rag with my other old motors that I’d cut out another set of Mamba parts - I’ve kept my aeromodelling stuff over the years with the loving care of a museum curator - really must give the Mamba another go for old times sake.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
