With a record 26 nations participating in the 24th Lord Wakefield International Cup contest, air-modeling's oldest and most famed trophy went to Joachim Loffler, 23-year old college student from Eberswalde, East Germany, following a fiercely contested fly-off against other '5- max' finalists from Sweden, Italy and Austria. Since this also marked the debut of the Deutsche Demokratic Republic (5th in team results) in international contest flying, their star team member's victory was as much as a surprise to most people as the success of Finland's Ellila in '49 and Australia's King in '54.
Joachim Loftier has been building Wakefields for the last 4 years and he set new National Records for this category in '61 and '62. A member of the Kranbau Eberswalde model club, L-8 is his first design to be detailed in a model magazine..."

Notes
* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
