Quote: "So here for our building edification is a sample of flying from days of yore. A 36 in span bipe, with a .45. It will handle a .60 if you wish, down to a .29 if your don't. It is not rigged for inverted flight, though you may wish to so modify the design. It will turn in very smooth performance, and is an enjoyable, fast and powerful ship. With engine speed control added, it becomes a fine design for touch and go landings.
It is also a change of pace from a construction standpoint. It does have a few modern refinements, and more may be added as you wish. Weight equal to the lines should be added to the outboard wing tips. A somewhat lesser amount of elevator movement in relation to handle than you may be accustomed to, is suggested, as with the larger engines, it will prove to be a highly responsive ship. It will of course have a wider turning radius than you might have experienced on modern stunt designs.
Actually, this plane as presented here is the outgrowth of five previous and somewhat similar designs. One actually survived for thirteen years, and had a wild existence not with-standing. A fine vertical dive carried it shaft first into a single solid brick, surrounded by comparatively soft. earth. Still it survived another decade, to finally collide with a boulder during a flight off a cliff. It was an attempt to see what it would feel like to loop with nothing to hit at the bottom.
Another of this series featured a very graceful elliptical gull upper wing configuration, and exactly zero flying ability. This ship, with a .60 would buffet severely, and snapped the lines on every single flight. The wings apparently were set too close together, and probably the condition was aggravated by the gull dihedral..."

* Credit field
The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.
Scaling
This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
