About this Plan

Lilliput Gassie. Free flight power model.

Quote: "Here is Bernard Schoenfeld's Lilliput Gassie from Flying Models magazine issue 06-47. This model was featured on the magazine cover as shown."

Quote from article intro: - "Tired of the giant flyers? Then try the lightweight 'Lilliput.' small but packing big atomic punches SMALL MODELS are tough contenders. That this is a fact has been proven time and again by the many little 'Davids' who have beaten the great 'Goliaths' at contests. And how often we find that the overall high times are in the Class 'A' event.

There are many model builders who look to the .099 cubic inch displacement engines as the ideal power plant for sport flying. They think that this particular size of engine lends itself to the type of model that will not climb too high or stay in the air too long. This contention is by no means accurate; small models can be made to perform like their big brothers, the contest models.

Lilliput is the proof of the pudding. For though it incorporates a small engine in a small model (one hundred and fifty-eight square inch wing area), it is really capable of stepping right along..."

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
