The plane pictured [pic 003] is one I built from a copy of Scott's original sketches. Was able to fly it at a SMALL event in Little Rock, Arkansas as Scott flew his.

Completed Baby Boomer model [main pic, 004-007]. Scott Christians delightful Baby Boomer design built for 3 Channel lightweight RC, 1806 Motor and 2s lipo battery. Fuselage broadened slightly to make room for a couple of carbon strengthening rods and snakes. Graphic comes from my lifelong love of all things 'Krautrock', painted fuselage and heat shrink flying surfaces.

Question for Dave Oates. I don't have Dave's contact info. Can Dave comment on the set-up of the power pod in the "pusher" configuration in regards to "up thrust/side thrust" angles for the power pod. Thanks in advance for any help!
Dave Lentz - 13/11/2021
Hi Dave, it's been a bit of experimentation to be honest, which resulted in approx 2 or 3 degrees downthrust, no sidethrust. I started off with everything square (as far as I could tell) the motor is mounted on a ply disc so I could just add washers to adjust thrustline.
It has a gentle climb on about 1/2 throttle, since finishing we've had continuous wind so glides have been more about keeping it near to the field!

Hi David, Thanks so much for providing your insight and experience with this! Baby Boomer is on my build list!

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
