About this Plan

P-51D Mustang. Radio control scale model WII fighter.

Quote: "Plansheet from the Royal 1/2A P-51D Mustang kit, in my collection. 35-1/4in span semi-scale for .049-.09 engines and 4-channels, altho it wouldn't be difficult to add retracts and flaps with today's radio gear. Circa 1979; all formers and ribs are full size on the plan, as well as a scaled down parts sheet layout."

    ScaleType: This (oz3267) is a scale plan. Where possible we link scale plans to Wikipedia, using a text string called ScaleType.

    If we got this right, you now have a couple of direct links (above) to 1. see the Wikipedia page, and 2. search Oz for more plans of this type. If we didn't, then see below.

    Notes:
    ScaleType is formed from the last part of the Wikipedia page address, which here is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_P-51_Mustang
    Wikipedia page addresses may well change over time.
    For more obscure types, there currently will be no Wiki page found. We tag these cases as ScaleType = NotFound. These will change over time.

I'm just building the P-51D 35in wingspan Mustang from Royal & I gotta say it's well design. Thanks Outerzone for these plans.

Thank you for using the photo of my P51 from my blog. I don't mind it; I like it! It flew very nice and stable with brushless and lipo and it still hangs from the wall. It builds easily and looks very scale.

Hi Sake, if you can send us more pics of your Mustang model, we'll post them here on this page. Thanks :)

Hi. Thanks for your comment. I just sent you several photos [main pic, 004-007]. The cowl is made of FRP from a foam mold. Painting it in checkered pattern took me some time but I liked the end results. The gear I made from some aluminum pipes and sheets and is sprung for suspension. It looked nice and worked, but didn't last long. I'm hoping to build it again someday.

Notes

* Credit field

The Credit field in the Outerzone database is designed to recognise and credit the hard work done in scanning and digitally cleaning these vintage and old timer model aircraft plans to get them into a usable format. Currently, it is also used to credit people simply for uploading the plan to a forum on the internet. Which is not quite the same thing. This will change soon. Probably.

Scaling

This model plan (like all plans on Outerzone) is supposedly scaled correctly and supposedly will print out nicely at the right size. But that doesn't always happen. If you are about to start building a model plane using this free plan, you are strongly advised to check the scaling very, very carefully before cutting any balsa wood.
